Ehhhh...
The First Common Sensical Interpretation of Religious Text that I’ve Heard in a While.

You know that line out of the book of John (14:6-9) “No man may get to the Father except through Me?” And you know how many evangelical Christians use that as a grenade to tell anybody of any other religious sect (even other Christians) that it means “you’re gonna burn in the seventh deepest pit of hell for eternity?”

I just spoke with a woman (a Jewish woman at that) about that very line, and my view of Christianity is almost completely different. She said this:

“I’m sure you all also remember a point in His life that Jesus says “and those that will be admitted shall not be those that cry ‘Lord, Lord,’ but those that do my Father’s work.”

BOOM. There we go, kinda seems like he could be saying you don’t necessarily have to be a Christian to go to Heaven… but of course that’s debatable…

But then she goes on to say:

“Well, He follows that statement later on by saying ‘No man may get to the Father except through Me.’ He didn’t say ‘through YOU’ or ‘through YOUR CHURCH’ or even ‘through the TEACHINGS OF YOUR CHURCH.’ He said ‘THROUGH ME.’ “

In the ears of Grey Elerson, that sounds a lot like Jesus was using proper Diety etiquette to say “BITCH, DON”T YOU KNOW I”M GOD. I have the final say, so SIT DOWN and SHUT UP.”

That kinda makes me smile. :)
